Mrs Christine Clarke. (Sent on 13.2.06)
My husband Terry was diagnosed lung cancer in June 2005. The fear, disbelief, despair is all consuming, but with prayers from our family and dear friends, I am sure they have all helped during the difficult months. Prayers have given us the strength to carry on, and sure we have our guardian angels with us along this difficult road.
A request for prayers from Mrs Kerry Hart. (Sent on 9.1.06)
Please pray for my Dad who has been diagnosed with lung cancer. It has caused such turmoil in our lives and the future is very frightening at the moment, please pray for me to be positive. Thankyou.
A Message from Fiona Castle
We read daily about disasters which happen around the world. We are shocked by the devastation caused by hurricanes, earthquakes, floods, wars and famines. We are concerned - and we might even pray for those caught up in these events, but they rarely affect us personally.
Where do we turn when disaster strikes in our own lives? We feel very vulnerable and bewildered, and we long for something to give us hope. Many people, who have always lived very independently and who have never needed to think about God before, turn to Him at this point, either to blame or to cry out to for help.
Do you realise that God is longing for you to reach out to Him? He loves you and is waiting with open arms to receive you when you turn to Him? The day I invited Jesus into my life, was the best day of my life and the most important decision I ever made. He gave me peace which has remained with me ever since - not because everything has gone the way I wanted, but because I trusted Him to help me every day and He has never let me down.
If you want to know the sort of peace that is not dependent on your circumstances - peace which is there when your whole world is falling apart - Someone who will always be with you, then pray the prayer I prayed thirty years ago.
“Please Lord, forgive me for the things that I have done in my life that are wrong. I recognise that the way I have tried to live my life hasn't worked. Please Jesus come into my life now, fill me with your Holy Spirit and give me your peace. Help me to give all my pain, all my struggles and disappointments, all my grief and tears to you. Give me the strength to cope with all that life throws at me. Thank you for your promise that you will never leave me and never forsake me. Help me to focus on all the good things you have given me and be grateful. Amen”
