The Big C - by M. Sheldon, Joint winner Liverpool Echo Pause for Hope Poetry Competition 2010

Cancer

need some advice?

just ask me

I've had it

twice

not very pleasant

or even nice..

Why me

I thought,

I often

cried

was I scared?

just terrified ...

Thirty years have passed

since

then

I have the chance to

live again...

A brand new knee

a heart attack

don't tell me

you can't

come back....

All you need

are prayers and

love

a little help from

him above...

So please don't worry

sit and mope,

never, ever give up

hope....

A little footnote

I must add

just

in case your feeling

sad,

Think of me

all hale and hearty

next month's

my 80th

birthday party...

Margaret Sheldon
